I have a friend who spins, DJ Mike Lavet

Juxtapoz Magazine on FB had an article on a Seattle based sculptor tonight. Mike Leavitt.
I know it's kindof a stretch but whatever.
I do follow the urban vinyl culture. (even if I don't own even one designer toy, not even a Munny.) I can't name drop this and that street artist turned international collaborator of big ass cool urban brands and fashion houses. I know enough. I recognize this and that.
Mike Leavitt does somewhat caricatures of people, to put it loosely.
That's Kim Jong II, Mark Ryden (2 of em) another urban vinyl designer for his Art Army collection, Van Gogh and Amy Winehouse.
Not so crazy about his work.
Too literal. Ugh.
But on second thought, maybe if I saw them in real life I'd be less critical and more of a fan.
(and I saw his working sketches, and I think they had more character than the actual 3d versions!)
I do however appreciate this series.

Art Army Royalty
why? cos each Art "soldier" is worth googling. Just to enrich you modern & post-modern art knowledge.
PS
I think most of them we discussed in Art History I just have a really shitty memory
PPS
The only artists who I remember/ didn't need googling we're Damien Hirst, Christo, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, and Yayoi Kusama. Shet. Ang konti lang ng alam ko.
