Ganito Yun
Before I was just in oblivious denial
Then I got busy and distracted
Then I realized I was excluded
But I was busy and distracted
AND happy
New thing, new life
so much excitement!
You were old news
You were tired
You were weighing me down
So it was fine
I wasn't missing out on anything
Then my exciting, new busy things
started to feel like a real life
(exciting, new and busy!)
And I would remember
my old life
Then I remembered you!
Then I started to feel sad
I started to feel like something was missing
Guess I missed you
but you know me
I'm rubbery,
I bounce back quick
I don't get down
for long
and I accept things
don't want to force things
will never
force myself on someone
so here I am a bit sad
cos you're missing
and here I am too
in my exciting, busy new life
and I see you now
and I have no more space for you
and I'm kinda sad and guilty
that this is how it turned out
but I'm kinda angry too
who left who
I think you did
so I'd play the blame game
and I'm pinning this on you
You chose to exclude me
now I'm saying,
I accept it
I'm cool without you
Then I got busy and distracted
Then I realized I was excluded
But I was busy and distracted
AND happy

so much excitement!

my VisualDNA according to the NY Times!
You are super stylish and you love nothing more than shopping both for yourself and your home which is beautifully furnished from top to bottom. You take great pride in how things look outwardly and have a great admiration for the aesthetically beautiful. You are thoughtful and original in your outlook. You like to be made to think and often seek out ways to expand your horizons.
Lively and, you're someone who likes to make a big impression. You understand that first impressions count and that you won't always get a second chance. You've got great taste and strive to be one step ahead of the crowd. Your passion for fashion means you've got a bit of a reputation amongst your friends for creating your own style. Keeping an eye on the trends, you know what suits you but while adopting the values of society in dress and taste, you are concerned with inward spiritual beauty as with looks. The key is to allow yourself to appreciate life's journey while holding fast to that which matters most to you.

What is it that you want? What is it that you give? Where do you plan on finding it? How do you plan to live? |
when faced by the question RTW or couture? I always answer, I want my clothes to be wearable, but my direction is "the future"
I've always said sell-ability is a measure of success. But what I always come up with isn't always wearable. So dilemma.
The forever dilemma of the creative individual. Selling-out or staying true and going hungry.
I want to... make a balance. Can I? May I? Will I be able to?
I have this friend. I've always been his fan since college. There were 3 of them mga bakleur Fine Arts palang alam nang fashion ang pupuntahan. Kermit Tesoro, Mike Lavarez and Geof Gonzales. I've always liked Geof's clothes best. (shhhh) He is anything but wearable. And when looking at his work you have to stop and think about it. Understand it. Then EUREKA! Then a long drawn WOOOOW.
For the longest time he gave up on fashion altogether, and did styling for pre-nups just so he could earn moolah. AND THEN he went back to what he knew best. And look at him now! http://lifestyle.inquirer.net/17051/edgy-style-wins-look-magazine-awards%E2%80%93geof-gonzales-off-to-central-saint-martins On his way to Central Saint Martins. Shet.
So proud of you Geof Gonzales. And you just inspired me to make a decision.
To stick with what I know best. To go by my instincts.
I will still think about the bills and supporting myself with this career.
But it won't be the basis of my work.
Necessity will never fuel design. Desire will. chos.
I leave you with this. Gareth Pugh's SS 2011 pre-show presentation. Oh also a Central Saint Martins alumni. Featuring Crystal Renn. The damn fine plus-size model.

the Fs
some friends are like clothes
for the longest time
they define you
without meaning to
you start to dress alike
like falling
unconsciously in rhythm
in a cycle, your periods
then
they get stuffed into
the back of your closet
out of sight,
out of my mind
on the off chance
that they do
get your attention
you realize that
they no longer fit
what the hell
where you thinking
wearing that?
and that's when you
comprehend
you no longer need
that
article of friend
spring cleaning
your garage sale
cast-off BFF
maybe another person's
favourite outfit
School of Fashion and the Arts Design Institute
I'll always remember this
as a place of
lightness and light
it's not gonna
get any easier
but for now
as a place of
lightness and light
it's not gonna
get any easier
but for now

I have a friend who spins, DJ Mike Lavet
http://soundcloud.com/mike-lavet
Juxtapoz Magazine on FB had an article on a Seattle based sculptor tonight. Mike Leavitt.
I know it's kindof a stretch but whatever.
I do follow the urban vinyl culture. (even if I don't own even one designer toy, not even a Munny.) I can't name drop this and that street artist turned international collaborator of big ass cool urban brands and fashion houses. I know enough. I recognize this and that.
Mike Leavitt does somewhat caricatures of people, to put it loosely.
That's Kim Jong II, Mark Ryden (2 of em) another urban vinyl designer for his Art Army collection, Van Gogh and Amy Winehouse.
Not so crazy about his work.
Too literal. Ugh.
But on second thought, maybe if I saw them in real life I'd be less critical and more of a fan.
(and I saw his working sketches, and I think they had more character than the actual 3d versions!)
I do however appreciate this series.

Art Army Royalty
why? cos each Art "soldier" is worth googling. Just to enrich you modern & post-modern art knowledge.
PS
I think most of them we discussed in Art History I just have a really shitty memory
PPS
The only artists who I remember/ didn't need googling we're Damien Hirst, Christo, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, and Yayoi Kusama. Shet. Ang konti lang ng alam ko.
